Dr. Amol Patel selected as Nephrology Chief Fellow 2021-22

Patel-AmolWe are pleased to announce that Amol Patel has accepted the position of Nephrology Chief Fellow for the upcoming academic year (2021-22). He was elected to the position by his fellow colleagues.

Dr. Patel arrived last summer from his hometown of Houston, Texas where he served as Chief Resident of the Methodist Hospital during the final year of his internal medicine residency. Prior to residency, Amol completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University and his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.

Undeterred by the challenges of a new environment during a global pandemic, Amol has approached every learning opportunity with infectious enthusiasm while demonstrating outstanding commitment to patients, staff and colleagues. In his new role, Amol will help to plan and coordinate fellowship events (e.g., orientation, recruitment, retreats) and serve as a liaison to facilitate timely communication between his colleagues, faculty, and the fellowship program. Amol will also represent his colleagues at formal GME events such as ACGME site visits, the Annual Program Evaluation, and on the Graduate Medical Education Committee which oversees the work of the GME Office and UWSOM’s various residency and fellowship programs.
