Dr. Matt Rivara, new Director of Outpatient Dialysis at University of Washington
Dr. Matt Rivara will assume the role of the Director of Outpatient Dialysis at the University of Washington effective July 1, 2021. In that role, Dr. Rivara will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards for the quality of care for patients undergoing long-term dialysis, serve as a liaison with our partners within UW Medicine (such as Vascular Surgery) and with our community provider partners, and facilitate our educational and research mission as it pertains to people undergoing long-term dialysis.
Dr. Rivara joined the Division of Nephrology in 2012 as a fellow, and in the last 9 years he has been recognized nationally as a researcher, scholar, and a teacher for the care of patients undergoing long-term dialysis. Among his many accomplishments, he has developed a patient reported experience of care measure for home dialysis, he serves as a member of faculty for national teaching courses on home dialysis organized by the National Kidney Foundation and Home Dialysis University, and he has served as a member of several workgroups of the ASN’s Kidney Health Initiative. Locally, he serves as the Medical Director for Broadway and Elliott Bay Kidney Centers, and he is a member of the Medical Executive Board of the Northwest Kidney Centers.
