KidneyX meeting in Seattle, the birthplace of dialysis, selected by the Department of Health & Human Services and the American Society of Nephrologists (ASN). Offering hope to kidney patients through innovation and transformation in kidney disease. The goal to purposefully improve the lives of patients.
KidneyX seeks to improve the lives of the 850 million people worldwide currently affected by kidney disease by accelerating the development of drugs, devices, biologics and other therapies across the spectrum of kidney care for patients and their families. These are therapies that could reduce or eliminate the patients’ time on dialysis, slow or stop the progression of kidney disease, improve patient outcomes and provide a better quality of life for people with kidney disease.
KidneyX is a public-private partnership to accelerate innovation in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney diseases. ASN has already committed $25 million to KidneyX for the first year and is committed to providing a matching $25 million/year for years 2 – 5. Representative DelBene (WA) is sponsoring legislation to generate the matching $25 million for each of the next five years.
