Visiting Residents
Welcome to UW Nephrology
Our program focuses on offering high-quality education and patient care in a public hospital setting. We emphasize close collegial relationships between attending physicians, fellows, residents, and staff.
Residents currently enrolled in an ACGME-accredited U.S. residency program may request a clinical visiting resident rotation with the University of Washington. Requests require a minimum of 3 months’ advance notice and are subject to capacity and institutional approval.
Please review the following documents for detailed requirements:
Visiting Resident rotations are contingent upon:
- Program capacity
- Site approval
- Completion of required institutional documentation
PREPARATION FOR YOUR ROTATION
You will receive onboarding information from the site coordinator before the start of your rotation that details the following:
UW Medicine Account (Activate your account): You must complete this first step before your rotation. We use your demographic information in MedHub to apply for you. When you receive your confirmation, please set up your account by following the instructions provided.
EPIC Training: If you have not rotated at UWMC-ML or HMC within a calendar year, you will need to complete the EPIC training modules. The training will be available the week before, and you must complete it before your start date. You will receive EPIC access no earlier than 3 days before your rotation begins.
Husky Card: The administrator will request a UW Husky badge on your behalf ahead of your rotation, which provides necessary access throughout the hospital. You will receive your badge on the morning of your first day of rotation.
